Welcome back to The Circle! This week we welcomed our new Assistant Headteacher, Ruby to the school. She will be working closely with Helen for the remainder of the term and also taking lots of opportunities to teach and get to know our wonderful children. Please make her feel welcome when you see her! Thanks to everyone for your cooperation with the new bike system at breakfast club. It has made the corridor clearer, safer and more accessible for all. Have a great weekend when it arrives. Best wishes, Andi and Sarah

Our Values in Action:

Rec: Joy

This week, the children have had an incredibly exciting and busy time, engaging in a wide variety of activities. Most notably, they have been thrilled to innovate their own versions of the story "Goldilocks and the Three Bears." Many of the children have created wonderful and imaginative stories, showcasing their creativity and enthusiasm. It has been a joy to see them so engaged and eager to share their unique takes on the classic tale. Their storytelling skills are truly blossoming, and I am excited to see how their narratives continue to develop.

Year 1 – Curiosity

Children in Year 1 are very excited about transitioning to Year 2. This week we spent a morning in the Y2 classroom and reflected on how it feels to be in their new space. Y1s have been showing lots of curiosity asking many questions about how learning in Year 2 will look like? Are their routines going to change? What trips will they go on? Who is going to be their new teacher? Children wrote down all of their questions and decided that the best people to answer them are Y2 children! Y2 children showed a lot of responsibility talking about experiences and projects they have done this year and reassured Sky Brown children that Y2 is a fantastic place to be and there is so much to look forward to.

Year 2 : Joy

What a fantastic day we had at Walton on the Naze! A little drizzle couldn't dampen the spirits of Parton class. We strolled along the pier, savoured delicious ice cream, dug enthusiastically in the sand, and even enjoyed a refreshing swim in the sea. The children's sense of responsibility shone through as they diligently picked up all the little they saw around them and even rescued a stranded jellyfish. A heartfelt thank you to all the adults who joined us and helped make the day so enjoyable and memorable!

Few points to note:-

  • There will be no seating at the event. Please bring a camping chair, stool or blanket if you would like to sit. You will be moving around a circuit, following your child.
  • If it is raining, we will try and rearrange the hall. We will make the decision the day before.
  • Please drop off your child at the normal time, dressed in their PE kit. Please make sure they have a water bottle and are dressed for the weather e.g. sun hat, sunscreen.
  • You will then be asked to meet us at Three Mills Green if you are attending. The event finishes at 11.30 and the children will be walking back to school promptly to have their lunch.

Important Health and Safety changes to breakfast club from Monday 1st July.

Our new system for bikes has been working really well so far, thank you for your cooperation! Below is a reminder of what to do if you are bringing a bike to breakfast club:

If you arrive before 8am, your child will be asked to wheel their bike or scooter into the Community Room. These will then be moved to the playground bike shelter at 8.45am when children go to class. If you arrive after 8am, please leave your children at breakfast club and Charmaine will then let parents into the school building to put bikes and scooters into the playground. If you have a bike lock, you are also welcome to leave bikes locked outside the front of the school for the day, hence avoiding the need to drop bikes off or pick them up from the playground. If there is a need for more bike locks in this location, we will try to arrange this. Thanks for your understanding with this matter! This should keep the school entrance clear and safe for you and your children.

Breakfast Club and After School club

Link to pay for breakfast club and the school trip:

We will be moving our Student Management Information System (MIS) to Arbor in September 2024 and we are no longer using Reach More Parents (WEDUC) to take online payments for trips and the breakfast club. Please use this link to purchase breakfast club places and for trip payments.

Breakfast club opens from 7:50am Children need to arrive before 8.30 to join the breakfast club. If parents arrive at 8.30 or later they will be asked to wait at the main gate until 8.40, because the breakfast club is closed and children are already being taken to their various classes. If a child arrives a few minutes before the club closes, they can still eat breakfast in the classroom as we would never want a child to go without breakfast. It’s the case for all parents that if they let a member of staff know in the morning that their child hasn’t eaten breakfast, they will always be offered and encouraged to eat something as this is best for their wellbeing and learning.

We will be asking for a contribution of £2 per day. We can offer a discount for siblings and this cost does not affect families eligible for Free School Meals. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the School office and we will do our best to help. Thanks for your understanding.

After School club

Premier Wraparound will run after school every day the school is open, subject to demand/minimum bookings being met. For booking enquiries please contact [email protected] or Sophie Morris, [email protected] alternatively you can call on 01953499040 / 07857987693

Attendance Matters – every day counts

This week the average whole school attendance went down to 92.21% and our target is 97%. The class with the highest attendance this week was Zephaniah class, well done! Thank you for your efforts in making sure your children are here on time every day. If you ever need support with this – please let us know.
