Welcome back to The Circle! It really does feel like the Summer term now that we have had some sunshine. The children are enjoying being outside more than ever and the positive impact on their learning is clear to see! Research shows the many benefits of outside learning in terms of progress and wellbeing. Next time you read with your child, why not try it in the garden, on the balcony or in the park to see if it makes a difference? Enjoy this week’s issue and have a great bank holiday weekend. Best wishes, Andi and team
Whole school- Joy and Courage
We couldn’t be prouder of the children who took part in today’s TCS London Mini-Marathon. Their courage, joy, and perseverance were truly inspiring. Faced with the challenge of completing five laps around the course, they rose to it with determination. Whether running or walking, they gave it their all. It was especially moving to see their resilience and spirit shine through, even in the heat!

Rec-Joy and curiosity
What a wonderfully busy and engaging week our Reception children have had! It was packed full of diverse experiences, starting with a local walk to nearby Three Mills Park for an exciting worm hunt – we even managed to capture some photos of their discoveries! The children also explored their artistic talents, using oil pastels to create fantastic observational drawings. To top it all off, they participated enthusiastically in the Mini Marathon. It has been truly fantastic to witness the children's joy and deep engagement in all the activities offered, especially during their independent learning time.

Year 1 – Joy
Year 1 children have been enjoying our new garden, transformed by Maddy and a group of very eager children! This term, we will be working on making our outdoor area even more beautiful as part of our exciting project about plants, ecosystems, and biodiversity. The children will be planting flowers, learning how to care for living things, and discovering how different creatures and plants work together in nature. We can’t wait to see how all this work will transform the garden into a wonderful, colourful place for everyone to enjoy!

Year 2 -Curiosity
It has been a wonderful first week back in Year 2! The children have begun learning all about the rainforest in our English lessons. They had a brilliant time snowballing all the facts they have learnt about the rainforest.

Year 3 – Curiosity and responsibility
Year 3 are completing a project on sustainable fashion this half term and they were fortunate enough to have a visit from London College of Fashion. They were given their commission for the project and learned more about fast fashion, natural resources and environmentally friendly methods to create clothing.

Notices:
Attendance & Punctuality:
We would like to remind all parents that we cannot authorise term-time leave for holidays. It is important that we remain consistent with other new Newham schools, and this also impacts attendance figures that we are required to report to the Local Authority. The school gates open at 8:40am and close at 8:55am. Families arriving after 8.55am are required to sign in at the front office, as the class register will have already closed and this could compromise our safeguarding procedures. For more information, please refer to our Attendance policy available on the school website.

School 360’s Fundraiser for WWF
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped us raise £222 towards our £250 goal. Your generosity means so much to us. If you'd still like to donate, here is the link.

Breakfast Club and After School club
Link to pay for breakfast club and the school trip:
We will be moving our Student Management Information System (MIS) to Arbor in September 2024 and we are no longer using Reach More Parents (WEDUC) to take online payments for trips and the breakfast club. Please use this link to purchase breakfast club places and for trip payments.
Breakfast club opens from 7:50am Children need to arrive before 8.30 to join the breakfast club. If parents arrive at 8.30 or later they will be asked to wait at the main gate until 8.40, because the breakfast club is closed and children are already being taken to their various classes. If a child arrives a few minutes before the club closes, they can still eat breakfast in the classroom as we would never want a child to go without breakfast. It’s the case for all parents that if they let a member of staff know in the morning that their child hasn’t eaten breakfast, they will always be offered and encouraged to eat something as this is best for their wellbeing and learning.
We will be asking for a contribution of £2 per day. We can offer a discount for siblings and this cost does not affect families eligible for Free School Meals. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the School office and we will do our best to help. Thanks for your understanding.
