Welcome back to The Circle! Willow (our school puppy,) had her first week at school and she has done incredibly well! She is calm and sociable and likes listening to stories. Willow lives in the headteacher’s office throughout the day and is always supervised if there are children around. A reminder that if you do not want your child to interact with the puppy, you must complete the opt out form in the letter that went out with the policy and risk assessment. Thank you for being so welcoming and we look forward to providing you with ‘pupdates’ in future newsletters! Enjoy this week’s issue and have a good weekend when it arrives. Best wishes, Andi and team

Rec- Responsibility and Joy

This week, our Reception children have been imagining what toys might look like in the future! They explored real-world problems they’d like to solve and designed innovative toys that are not only fun to play with but also help make a positive impact on the world. We were impressed by their creativity, from remote-controlled submarines that collect plastic from the ocean to toys that purify water, plant trees, and even transform rubbish into new toys! It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm for making a difference, and we can’t wait to see their ideas come to life when they begin building their prototypes next week.

Year 1- Curiosity and Joy

In Year 1, we've been on the lookout for signs of Spring. Last week, we took a lovely, albeit chilly, walk to the Olympic Park, hoping to spot some early signs of the season. We took a moment to practice mindful listening, using all of our senses to observe the world around us—seeing, hearing, smelling, and touching the signs of spring. We admired the daffodils in bloom and inhaled the sweet scent of the blossoms. The cool breeze brushed our faces, occasionally interrupted by the warm rays of the sun. Although the trees still appeared quite wintery, we noticed small buds beginning to form on the branches and predicted that the landscape would soon transform. How exciting!

Year 2 – Curiosity

The children in Sky Brown class have been collaborating together to create their own mini Victorian houses. They have researched the different Victorian furniture before planning their rooms. They then used their woodwork skills to create the furniture, used their naturally dyed fabric and even created their own wallpaper inspired by William Morris.

Year 3 – Curiosity

Year 3 has been completing a unit on science about light and they have been thinking about the properties of light and how different materials interact with it to give us objects we use in everyday life.

For this lesson they were considering ways we can use mirrors for fun activities.

Breakfast Club and After School club

Link to pay for breakfast club and the school trip:

We will be moving our Student Management Information System (MIS) to Arbor in September 2024 and we are no longer using Reach More Parents (WEDUC) to take online payments for trips and the breakfast club. Please use this link to purchase breakfast club places and for trip payments.

Breakfast club opens from 7:50am Children need to arrive before 8.30 to join the breakfast club. If parents arrive at 8.30 or later they will be asked to wait at the main gate until 8.40, because the breakfast club is closed and children are already being taken to their various classes. If a child arrives a few minutes before the club closes, they can still eat breakfast in the classroom as we would never want a child to go without breakfast. It’s the case for all parents that if they let a member of staff know in the morning that their child hasn’t eaten breakfast, they will always be offered and encouraged to eat something as this is best for their wellbeing and learning.

We will be asking for a contribution of £2 per day. We can offer a discount for siblings and this cost does not affect families eligible for Free School Meals. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the School office and we will do our best to help. Thanks for your understanding.
