Welcome back to The Circle! There has been so much ‘hands on’ learning taking place across the school this week. Every classroom I walk into is alive with so much energy and focus! This includes, coding, painting, designing, performing, singing – it’s been a joy to see! It’s widely accepted that children learn more when they are investigating and having fun, which is great. There is a lot of interesting news in this week's newsletter, including information about our new school dog, so please read on! Have a good weekend when it arrives! Best wishes, Andi and team

REC- Curiosity

This week, the Reception children have been deeply engaged in their project-based learning, exploring a wide range of exciting activities. One highlight has been their work on designing clothes for dolls that look like them, reinforcing the idea that every child deserves a toy that truly represents them. The children used various materials to overlay on black and white photos of themselves, creating their own customised paper dolls — and the results have been fantastic! In other news, the children have had lots of fun experimenting with electronic circuit components. They explored what happens when they complete a circuit, sparking curiosity and excitement as they discover how things work. We've also seen some budding computer programmers in action! The children have been experimenting with Bee-Bots, programming simple commands to guide the robots in creating marks on blank canvases. It’s been amazing to see their growing confidence and problem-solving skills. It has been a joy to watch the children’s curiosity and creativity flourish this week. Their progress in understanding the world through hands-on play is truly inspiring

Year 1- joy

Last Friday to celebrate World Book Day, the Year 1 children went to Reception and read their favorite bedtime stories to their buddies. It was pure Joy. The Reception children listened beautifully and it was incredible watching the Year 1 children reading to them with such confidence and joy. It was a lovely moment to reflect on much the Year 1 children have learnt since they started in Reception!

Year 2 – Curiosity

The children in Year 2 have been learning about William Morris. They have planned and designed their own wallpaper inspired by him. At the beginning of the week they made a digital print of their pattern. Then they edited their design and drew it onto foam tiles to then use it to create a printed pattern using ink and rollers.

Year 3 – Curiosity

This week in year 3, we have been learning about making lego cars that actually work in our computing lesson. Our favourite part was assembling it and doing the programming. We have been showing the value of curiosity because we didn't know how to build it or programme a car before.

Marathon Update: THANK YOU!!!

I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported me through donations for the Cambridge Half Marathon this past Sunday. I’m incredibly grateful to announce that I raised over £1,000—far beyond what I ever expected. I’ve been so touched by all the kindness and encouragement, with so many of you asking about my training and how race day went. I completed the race in my target time, despite the unexpected heat and sweltering summer-like conditions. Thank you so much for all your support. I truly feel lucky to be part of such a wonderful and supportive community. It’s a very special feeling, and I’m beyond grateful.

School 360 dog

I am very excited to let you know that Willow will be joining School 360. She is a Cavapoo and I will be bringing her home at 10 weeks old. She is hypoallergenic and does not shed fur, which means she is better to have if you have allergies. Willow is very calm and loves cuddles. Both of her parents are therapy dogs in schools and her brother, Ronnie, will be joining School 21! Willow will spend days in school, where you will see her on the gate, in the senior leadership office and with trained handlers around the school. Please do not worry if you don’t like dogs. You do not have to interact with her. She will always be on a lead and with an adult. There will also be spaces in the school where she will not be permitted to go. A letter will go out with more information, but we are also here to answer any questions.

I look forward to introducing her to you all.

Best wishes,

Andi

Love 4 reading

To promote the love of reading, we give every child a book for their birthday that they can keep and this is supported through your kind donations. Thank you to everyone who has donated books so far. We really appreciate it. If you'd like to donate more books, here's the link: Love4Reading Each purchase benefits the school and helps us buy even more books! Even better, share the link with friends and family. Thank you!

Breakfast Club and After School club

Link to pay for breakfast club and the school trip:

We will be moving our Student Management Information System (MIS) to Arbor in September 2024 and we are no longer using Reach More Parents (WEDUC) to take online payments for trips and the breakfast club. Please use this link to purchase breakfast club places and for trip payments.

Breakfast club opens from 7:50am Children need to arrive before 8.30 to join the breakfast club. If parents arrive at 8.30 or later they will be asked to wait at the main gate until 8.40, because the breakfast club is closed and children are already being taken to their various classes. If a child arrives a few minutes before the club closes, they can still eat breakfast in the classroom as we would never want a child to go without breakfast. It’s the case for all parents that if they let a member of staff know in the morning that their child hasn’t eaten breakfast, they will always be offered and encouraged to eat something as this is best for their wellbeing and learning.

We will be asking for a contribution of £2 per day. We can offer a discount for siblings and this cost does not affect families eligible for Free School Meals. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the School office and we will do our best to help. Thanks for your understanding.

After School club
