Welcome back to The Circle! Our focus value this half term is curiosity and it’s great to see how much curiosity has been taking place this week, across all year groups. It’s also good to see the Year 3 children getting ready for their upcoming Shakespeare performance and the Year 1’s are planning a Spring celebration, so look out for the details! Remember to sign up by Monday if you are attending our annual Iftar event on Tuesday 18th March which everyone is welcome to. Have a good weekend when it arrives! Best wishes, Andi and team

Reception – Curiosity

This week, the children have shown great curiosity during Cool Time while exploring magnetism. They were excited to discover which objects are magnetic and investigate what happens when two magnets are inverted, causing them to repel. It was wonderful to see them actively exploring and deepening their understanding of the world around them!

Year 1- Curiosity

This week, we kicked off our new book, which will serve as the inspiration for our writing over the coming weeks. While we’ve kept the title of the book and the name of the main character a mystery for now, the children were incredibly curious today! They came up with some fantastic questions that will help us uncover more about both the book and its central character. We’re so proud of the thoughtful writing they’ve already done!

Year 2 – Curiosity

This week the children have begun exploring different artifacts from the Victorian Era. We have been investigating different games children played. They used the marbles and objects which Victorian children would have access to and created their own marble games. They wrote their rules and taught each other how to play the different games.

Year 3 – Joy

Year 3 have been working incredibly hard in rehearsals for their upcoming Performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream! Their enthusiasm shines through as they perfect their lines, refine their stage presence, and bring the play to life. A big thank you to all the parents who have been supporting their children at home by helping them learn their lines – your effort and encouragement makes a big difference!

Cambridge Half-Marathon!

Maddy is running the Cambridge Half Marathon in just a few weeks to raise money for Mind, a charity that is incredibly close to her heart. After being so overwhelmed by the support she received during last year's run, it truly helped her push through, and she's hoping for that same encouragement this year. If you could kindly support her once again, it would mean the world to her!

A message from Maddy:

“Hi there! I’m running The Cambridge Half Marathon on Sunday, March 9th, for the charity Mind. I’m running for Mind because of the incredible support they provide to those struggling with mental health. They do vital work, offering resources and care that can make a real difference. Having lost loved ones to mental health challenges, I want to honor their memory and raise awareness to help prevent others from experiencing the same. Any donation would mean the world to me and truly help me get to the finish line.”Giving Page

We really appreciate it. If you'd like to donate more books, here's the link: Love4Reading Each purchase benefits the school and helps us buy even more books! Even better, share the link with friends and family. Thank you!

Spare Clothes & PE Kits

Dear Parents and Carers,

We've noticed that our supply of spare clothes is running low, and with the children enjoying outdoor play in all weathers, it's essential we have enough to keep them comfortable and dry.

To help us manage this, your child's bag will be sent home with them every Friday.

Every Friday, please check your child's bag for the following:

  • Labelled spare clothes: Accidents happen, and having extra clothes, underwear and footwear readily available helps us keep your child comfortable. Please ensure all items of your child's spare clothing are clearly labelled with their full name. This makes it much easier for us to return items to their rightful owners.
  • Borrowed Spare Clothes: If your child has borrowed any spare clothes from school, please wash and return them to school on Monday or as soon as possible.
  • PE Kits: Please ensure your child's PE kit is complete, clean, and ready for the following week. Again, please label all items.

This simple check will help us maintain an adequate supply of spare clothing and ensure your child is always prepared for their activities. Thank you for your understanding and support.

World Book Day!

This year, we’re celebrating World Book Day with the cosy theme of Bedtime Stories!

On Friday 7th March, we invite children to come to school in their comfiest pyjamas to prepare for the Big School 360 Bedtime Story! Children can bring along a favourite bedtime story and teddy. Children will be able to enjoy sharing their bedtime story with their friends in different classes throughout the day!

It will be a wonderful day filled with storytelling, imagination, and the joy of books. We can’t wait to see everyone in their cosy pyjamas ready to share their favourite stories.

Breakfast Club and After School club

Link to pay for breakfast club and the school trip:

We will be moving our Student Management Information System (MIS) to Arbor in September 2024 and we are no longer using Reach More Parents (WEDUC) to take online payments for trips and the breakfast club. Please use this link to purchase breakfast club places and for trip payments.

Breakfast club opens from 7:50am Children need to arrive before 8.30 to join the breakfast club. If parents arrive at 8.30 or later they will be asked to wait at the main gate until 8.40, because the breakfast club is closed and children are already being taken to their various classes. If a child arrives a few minutes before the club closes, they can still eat breakfast in the classroom as we would never want a child to go without breakfast. It’s the case for all parents that if they let a member of staff know in the morning that their child hasn’t eaten breakfast, they will always be offered and encouraged to eat something as this is best for their wellbeing and learning.

We will be asking for a contribution of £2 per day. We can offer a discount for siblings and this cost does not affect families eligible for Free School Meals. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the School office and we will do our best to help. Thanks for your understanding.

After School club
