Welcome back to The Circle! There has been a lot of story writing and storytelling taking place at school this week. It’s great to see the children using their imaginations and finding creative ways of expressing their learning. They have also decided on names for our new Hens and to replace Mac and Cheese, we now have Rice and Peas! I still can’t seem to work out which is which, but the children seem to know. Enjoy this week's newsletter and remember the gardening club is on this Saturday! Have a good weekend when it arrives. Best wishes, Andi and team

Reception-Joy

This week, the children were thrilled to map out the story of The Everywhere Bear! It was wonderful to see them combining their mark-making and literacy skills to create truly interactive and engaging story maps.

Year 1- Joy

The children have really enjoyed getting to know our new hens, and they’ve decided their favorite names for them are Rice and Peas—a combination that definitely has a nice ring to it! The other day, we let the hens roam around the playground, which absolutely thrilled the children. It was such a joy to see their excitement as they watched the hens explore!

Year 2 – Courage

This week the children have been working extremely hard on their story writing! They have been reciting their stories using their story maps and have shown so much resilience when writing! I am so proud of their work and can’t wait for you to see their fantastic stories next week!

Community Corner:

Kung Hei Fat Choi 🧧🐍

Last Friday, Year 1 showed kindness and curiosity whilst Georgie and Karen (parents of Sadie and Benjamin) came in to talk about Lunar New Year (LNY). Year 1 all celebrated the ESEA (East and Southeast Asian) tradition by learning about LNY, reading The Great Race, making paper snakes (which is this year's animal zodiac) and saying Kung Hei Fat Choi / Gong Xi Fa Cai (which means happy Chinese New Year in Cantonese / Mandarin). Year 1 students received a Chinese lucky red envelope at the end of the show and tell.

Community Garden now open on Saturdays

hanks to everyone who came along this morning – especially the wonderful little ‘budding’ gardeners! We had a great time sowing seeds, painting signs and pictures, and planting apple trees and currant bushes. 🌱🌳🚧🤗

Breakfast Club and After School club

Link to pay for breakfast club and the school trip:

We will be moving our Student Management Information System (MIS) to Arbor in September 2024 and we are no longer using Reach More Parents (WEDUC) to take online payments for trips and the breakfast club. Please use this link to purchase breakfast club places and for trip payments.

Breakfast club opens from 7:50am Children need to arrive before 8.30 to join the breakfast club. If parents arrive at 8.30 or later they will be asked to wait at the main gate until 8.40, because the breakfast club is closed and children are already being taken to their various classes. If a child arrives a few minutes before the club closes, they can still eat breakfast in the classroom as we would never want a child to go without breakfast. It’s the case for all parents that if they let a member of staff know in the morning that their child hasn’t eaten breakfast, they will always be offered and encouraged to eat something as this is best for their wellbeing and learning.

We will be asking for a contribution of £2 per day. We can offer a discount for siblings and this cost does not affect families eligible for Free School Meals. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the School office and we will do our best to help. Thanks for your understanding.

After School club
