Welcome back to The Circle and Happy New Year to you all! I’m pleased to see that the children are coming to school wrapped up and prepared for the colder weather. This has allowed them to continue with exciting outdoor learning opportunities and educational visits. Our focus value for this half term is courage, and we are already seeing so much of it. Children are trying new activities and challenging themselves, whether it’s tasting a new food, climbing higher than before or carefully using the woodwork equipment. What a great start to 2025! Have a wonderful weekend when it arrives. Best wishes, Andi and team

Our Values in Action:

Reception – Curiosity

The children have been actively engaging in hands-on exploration with a variety of cardboard tools. They have been experimenting to understand how each tool works, discovering the capabilities and limitations of different types of cardboard. Alongside this, they have been learning and practicing important safety precautions for using these tools responsibly. These newly acquired skills will play a key role in our upcoming project, where we will create models using cardboard.

Year 1- Curiosity

The children in Year 1 have been learning how to use and handle a new piece of woodwork equipment- a hand held drill. They will be using this new piece of equipment a lot to build trees for our exhibition at the end of term. The children have shown responsibility when using the drill and are learning how it works and how they get the best outcome from it.

Year 2 – Curiosity

The children had a fantastic time visiting the UD music studios next to our school. It was fascinating finding out how a podcast is recorded and why they are currently so popular. The children are now very excited to begin recording our own Sky Brown Podcast – we will let you know when it is ready for listening.

Year 3 – Curiosity

Year 3 has had a great start to the new year and will be having Let’s Think lessons fortnightly as an alternative way to learn maths skills. In this week’s session the children were looking at word problems and had to think about how useful written clues were in solving a treasure hunt. They all thought very hard and worked well together to find the hidden item.

Community Corner:

Community Garden now open on Saturdays

We are excited to announce that the School 360 Community Garden will be opening every Saturday from 9am to 1pm from 11th January for families and local residents. Come and learn gardening skills alongside our Community Gardener Xuan and enjoy this natural playspace with your children. We will be growing and looking after plants and trees, fruit, vegetables and flowers on the site. Please click on this link to confirm your attendance Gardening session

Community Garden Update!

As you might have noticed, over the Christmas holidays a water butt was installed around the corner from the reception classroom as part of the ongoing work to turn the playground into a community garden. The water butt is connected to a drainpipe that collects water from the roof, this will allow the children to fill watering cans and water plants around the playground using rainwater when the weather warms up. There are also floating baskets holding aquatic plants inside, so the water butt doubles up as a pond. Some children from the reception classes have started planting pea seeds this week and there will be a lot more plants to look after soon!

Love 4 reading

To promote the love of reading, we give every child a book for their birthday that they can keep and this is supported through your kind donations. Thank you to everyone who has donated books so far. We really appreciate it. If you'd like to donate more books, here's the link: Love4Reading Each purchase benefits the school and helps us buy even more books! Even better, share the link with friends and family. Thank you!

Music Lesson update

Message from Olivia: I am taking a break to go travelling and will not be teaching Music at School360 this term. I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for your support and enthusiasm for music education at School360. It’s been an absolute pleasure working at the school, and I’m looking forward to returning once I’m back from my travels!

I’m also thrilled to let you know that we have some brilliant new teachers for Singing and Piano lessons this term…

Singing lessons will be taught by Hollie Aires – a brilliant West End performer. Hollie will also be teaching whole class Music in classrooms, and her individual singing lessons will be a fantastic opportunity for children to learn from someone with incredible skills and experience!

Piano lessons will be taught by Serena Holbech – a singer-songwriter and fantastic teacher who has a wealth of teaching experience.

If you’re interested in booking music lessons for your child, please contact Hollie or Serena directly with your child's name & year group. They will be happy to get you set up for next term.

Singing lessons – please email Hollie at [email protected]

Piano lessons – please email Serena at [email protected]

Best regards and see you soon!

Olivia!

Breakfast Club and After School club

Link to pay for breakfast club and the school trip:

We will be moving our Student Management Information System (MIS) to Arbor in September 2024 and we are no longer using Reach More Parents (WEDUC) to take online payments for trips and the breakfast club. Please use this link to purchase breakfast club places and for trip payments.

Breakfast club opens from 7:50am Children need to arrive before 8.30 to join the breakfast club. If parents arrive at 8.30 or later they will be asked to wait at the main gate until 8.40, because the breakfast club is closed and children are already being taken to their various classes. If a child arrives a few minutes before the club closes, they can still eat breakfast in the classroom as we would never want a child to go without breakfast. It’s the case for all parents that if they let a member of staff know in the morning that their child hasn’t eaten breakfast, they will always be offered and encouraged to eat something as this is best for their wellbeing and learning.

We will be asking for a contribution of £2 per day. We can offer a discount for siblings and this cost does not affect families eligible for Free School Meals. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the School office and we will do our best to help. Thanks for your understanding.

After School club

Premier Wraparound will run after school every day the school is open, subject to demand/minimum bookings being met. For booking enquiries please contact [email protected] or Sophie Morris, [email protected] alternatively you can call on 01953499040 / 07857987693
