Welcome back to The Circle! The children were very excited this week to catch a glimpse of snow! Please make sure that they are dressed for the weather and have a pair of wellies in school. Thank you for your efforts in making our school safer by not parking in front of the gates. As a community, we need to continue to tackle this so that children and families feel safe going to and from school. Remember school is closed on Friday for an INSET day, with all of the Big Education schools, so we will see you back on Monday. Have a wonderful weekend when it arrives. Best wishes, Andi and team
Our Values in Action:
Rec-Joy and Curiosity
This week in Reception, the children have been immersed in the captivating story of Rama and Sita. Through this traditional tale, they explored the rich cultural celebrations of Diwali, the Festival of Lights. The children showed remarkable curiosity and enthusiasm, fully engaging in retelling and acting out the story during our carpet sessions and extending their learning during Cool Time. It was wonderful to see them embrace this opportunity to broaden their understanding of traditions that might be different from those they celebrate at home.
Year 1 – Curiosity
This week, the Year 1 children have been engaged in an exciting science project, constructing houses from various materials to test their strength and resistance to water. Using paper, cardboard, and sticks, they designed and built their models, then put them to the test to see which structure could withstand the challenge. This hands-on project has sparked a lot of curiosity and creativity as the children explore different materials, tackle problems, and work together as a team.
Year 2 – Curiosity
This week, the children have continued exploring different forces and how they are used within sport. This week they focused on Gravity. They had a brilliant time exploring how the weight of an object changes the speed of which the items fall. It has been fantastic watching them work together to explain what they have found.
Year 3 – Curiosity
This week the children have been immersing themselves in our story book ‘The Pebble in my Pocket’, and have created their own original theatre read of a section of the book. The children worked together to read and develop actions that went alongside their text.
Community Corner:
A huge welcome to baby Freda!
One of our wonderful teachers, Claudia and her partner George, welcomed their beautiful daughter Freda Bea Bellwood-Smith to the world on 4th July 2024- weighing 8lbs 15oz. Freda is our very first School 360 staff baby and it goes without saying that she is already bringing everyone around her so much joy. Here’s hoping that we will be welcoming her into Reception in September 2028!
Well done, Hayley!
Not only is Hayley a great teacher at our school, but she is also a great actor, singer and dancer! Hayley stole the show during her recent performance in The Wizard of Oz with the Loughton Operatic Society. We know that Hayley is already excited about directing the Year 2 Christmas show on 19th December, so make sure you save the date!
Tomorrow’s climate Scientist!
The children in Year 2 have continued their work as researchers with their Tomorrow’s Climate Scientists project. This week they have discussed what they believe pollution is and decided to focus on air pollution as we discussed what greenhouse gases are and what impact they have. They then worked in small groups to find different man-made and natural solutions to help prevent air pollution.
Walk for home fundraiser with Shelter
Nina (Year 2) invites you all to join Andi and her on a fundraising walk for Shelter, on the 3rd of December after school. She's been talking for many months with her family about what she can do for the people in need, especially the ones struggling with housing. She is inspired by the school's mission for social justice, and she has a lot of energy for long walks! Please share the link or donate if you can. Walk for Home fundraiser
Love 4 reading
To promote the love of reading, we give every child a book for their birthday that they can keep and this is supported through your kind donations. Thank you to everyone who has donated books so far. We really appreciate it. If you'd like to donate more books, here's the link: Love4Reading Each purchase benefits the school and helps us buy even more books! Even better, share the link with friends and family. Thank you!

Breakfast Club and After School club
Link to pay for breakfast club and the school trip:
We will be moving our Student Management Information System (MIS) to Arbor in September 2024 and we are no longer using Reach More Parents (WEDUC) to take online payments for trips and the breakfast club. Please use this link to purchase breakfast club places and for trip payments.
Breakfast club opens from 7:50am Children need to arrive before 8.30 to join the breakfast club. If parents arrive at 8.30 or later they will be asked to wait at the main gate until 8.40, because the breakfast club is closed and children are already being taken to their various classes. If a child arrives a few minutes before the club closes, they can still eat breakfast in the classroom as we would never want a child to go without breakfast. It’s the case for all parents that if they let a member of staff know in the morning that their child hasn’t eaten breakfast, they will always be offered and encouraged to eat something as this is best for their wellbeing and learning.
We will be asking for a contribution of £2 per day. We can offer a discount for siblings and this cost does not affect families eligible for Free School Meals. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the School office and we will do our best to help. Thanks for your understanding.
After School club
