Welcome back to The Circle! It is good to see how much curiosity and playful learning has been taking place this week. On Monday, we are fortunate to be hosting the Next Generation Schools Conference, here at School 360. It has been organised by our very own Sarah Seleznyov! We will have the opportunity to share some of our great practices and also hear from other educational experts from across the country. The school day will remain the same for the children, with only a change to the lunch menu, as we will be providing packed lunches on that day. It is exciting to be part of an innovative school that is committed to delivering the best for the children and community. We thank you for your support. Have a great weekend when it arrives! Best wishes, Andi and team.
Our Values in Action:
Reception : Curiosity
This week in reception, we’ve continued to explore what makes each of us special while also celebrating our similarities and differences. As part of this journey, the children have been creating self-portraits using paints, enthusiastically mixing colours to capture their unique features. Their curiosity about colour mixing has been delightful to see, especially as they experiment on our light box, discovering the magical effects of overlapping colours. We can’t wait for you to admire their stunning portraits at our exhibition next week!

Year 1: Curiosity and Courage
The children in Year 1 have created their first drafts of the frames for our project, and their efforts have been truly impressive. With lots of courage and curiosity, they shared their work with one another, giving and receiving thoughtful feedback. This process not only encouraged them to reflect on their own designs but also to explore new ideas and possibilities. It's inspiring to see how eager they are to improve and learn from each other as they transfer this valuable feedback on to their final product.

Year 2: Courage
The children in year 2 have begun their two week swimming intensive course. They have all loved going every morning and have listened to their instructors and joined in brilliantly! It has been fantastic seeing them being brave by jumping in the deep pool or trying things they haven’t done before.

Year 3 – curiosity and joy
This week, year 3 had the privilege of visiting a beekeeper workshop and were able to see live bees in their hive making honey. They learned all about the queen bee, her workers (who are all female) and drones, tasted honey straight from the comb, and found out an interesting fact: there are 25,000 different bee species!

Community Corner:
Black History Month
The theme for Black History Month this year is ‘Reclaiming Narratives’. At School 360 we think deeply about making sure the perspectives and narratives of underrepresented communities are highlighted all year round and not only in October. We encourage critical thinking and also focus on positive representation and raising self-esteem. Newham has a range of activities taking place throughout the month and you can see more here on their website!
Love 4 reading
To promote the love of reading, we give every child a book for their birthday that they can keep and this is supported through your kind donations. Thank you to everyone who has donated books so far. We really appreciate it. If you'd like to donate more books, here's the link: Love4Reading Each purchase benefits the school and helps us buy even more books! Even better, share the link with friends and family. Thank you!
Bikes and scooters
Thank you to all parents and families that are reminding their children to walk with their bike or scooter in the playground – keep it up! Please remember, if you are leaving a bike or scooter at school, use the spaces at the back and work forwards so that we can use the storage most effectively. It’s encouraging to see how many children keep active by biking or scooting to school and we are looking into increasing our storage as the school continues to grow each year!

Breakfast Club and After School club
Link to pay for breakfast club and the school trip:
We will be moving our Student Management Information System (MIS) to Arbor in September 2024 and we are no longer using Reach More Parents (WEDUC) to take online payments for trips and the breakfast club. Please use this link to purchase breakfast club places and for trip payments.
Breakfast club opens from 7:50am Children need to arrive before 8.30 to join the breakfast club. If parents arrive at 8.30 or later they will be asked to wait at the main gate until 8.40, because the breakfast club is closed and children are already being taken to their various classes. If a child arrives a few minutes before the club closes, they can still eat breakfast in the classroom as we would never want a child to go without breakfast. It’s the case for all parents that if they let a member of staff know in the morning that their child hasn’t eaten breakfast, they will always be offered and encouraged to eat something as this is best for their wellbeing and learning.
We will be asking for a contribution of £2 per day. We can offer a discount for siblings and this cost does not affect families eligible for Free School Meals. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the School office and we will do our best to help. Thanks for your understanding.
